Danubius International University hosted, on 22 November 2025, the conference entitled “Corruption and the Poverty Trap”, an event of profound academic and civic significance. The participation of Laura Codruța Kövesi, European Chief Prosecutor (EPPO), conferred the meeting a remarkable level of authority through her perspective on strengthening the rule of law and on the European mechanisms designed to safeguard institutional integrity. Throughout the discussions, the central theme was examined in relation to the dynamics of contemporary society, highlighting the structural connection between corruption, institutional vulnerability, and the perpetuation of poverty.
The event brought together students, faculty members, researchers, and community stakeholders interested in legal and governance-related issues, providing a fertile space for interdisciplinary dialogue and critical reflection. The official opening of the conference was marked by addresses from the Rector & CEO of Danubius International University, Dr. Steve O. Michael, and the President of the Board of Directors, Dr. Andy Pușcă, who extended a warm welcome to the guest of honor while emphasizing the significance of her contribution to the consolidation of European justice.
