Linguistic and Intercultural Dimensions in Teaching Romanian as a Foreign Language: “Romanian as a Foreign Language: Linguistic and Intercultural Perspectives” (1st Edition)

The hybrid international conference “Romanian as a Foreign Language: Linguistic and Intercultural Perspectives” (1st Edition) took place on January 16, 2026, at Danubius International University. The event represented a significant academic initiative dedicated to the analysis and exchange of best practices in the field of teaching Romanian as a foreign language, bringing together specialists in applied linguistics, language pedagogy, and intercultural studies. The conference was held within the framework of an extensive international academic partnership involving prestigious universities and institutes from Italy, Bulgaria, Albania, the Republic of Moldova, and Ukraine, thereby strengthening the European and intercultural dimensions of scholarly dialogue.

Scientific coordination was ensured by distinguished academic figures, including Dr. Corneliu-Andy Pușca, President of Administrative Board of Danubius International University, and Dr. Steve O. Michael, Rector and CEO of the institution, in their capacity as hosts of the conference. The program featured contributions from renowned invited speakers such as Dr. Alexandra Barbăneagră, Dr. Gina-Aurora Necula, Dr. Habil. Cristinel Munteanu, and Dr. Ivana Ivanic, whose presentations addressed contemporary educational policies, innovative strategies for teaching Romanian, and the role of intercultural competence in the current European academic context.

The School of International Governance and Law announces that Associate Professor Dr. Cristina Elena Popa Tache, Dean of the school, has been invited to join the Berkeley Center on Comparative Equality & Anti-Discrimination Law, a research center affiliated with the University of California, Berkeley (UCB), ranked among the top 17 in the QS World University Rankings 2026, as well as its Digital Equality Working Group.
