The 19th  Edition of the International Conference European Integration Realities and Perspectives Global Challenges and Opportunities in the Multiple Crises Context

The central theme of the EIRP series of events focused on the EU integration in all fields and domains and the participants, academics and researchers, met in Aula Magna of the Danubius International University in order to exchange information and to propose new subjects to research and to conceptually debate the EU integration. This year, the keynote speakers were: Dr. Valentina Vasile, Institute of National Economy, the Romanian Academy, Romania, the presentation was “Controversial effects of the AI on the labor market. Between opportunities and human resources capitalization model shift”, Dr. Andy Pusca, Danubius International University, Galati, Romania, the presentation was “The Transition from Traditional Legal Systems to AI-influenced Law”, Dr. Emanuel Marinescu, Danubius International University, the presentation was “The International Identity of European Universities”, Dr. Gagan Deep Sharma, Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, India, the presentation was “Holistic Value Addition Framework of Sustainable Development”. Also, our institutional partner, Tehnopol Association, was represented by Dr. Ionut-Razvan Mocanu , with the presentation “Tehnopol Galati – Challenges & Projects”.

In the second day of the EIRP Conference, the audience was very impressed by the two presentations of the keynote speakers: Dr Muhammad Ali Nasir, University of Leeds, United Kingdom with the presentation about “Central Bank Digital Currencies. Opportunities & Challenges” and the Rector & CEO of our university, Dr. Steve O. Michael, with the presentation “The Diminishing Art of Teaching: Where Have All the Great Educators Gone?”.

The 19th Edition of the International Conference European Integration Realities and Perspectives Global Challenges and Opportunities in the Multiple Crises Context was an event where the audience had the opportunity to find out a lot of interesting information about how ready we are, as humanity, to integrate and accept the involvement of artificial intelligence in our professional fields, how we as individuals and legal entities relate to the present the elements of artificial intelligence, about the changes taking place in the banking world and in the virtual-banking world and about the multiple roles that a real teacher-mentor can have for today's student, in this world of permanent changes in all sectors of life.

Rector and CEO of Danubius International University promoted the global educational leadership in China

In furtherance of the internationalization of Danubius International University, Dr. Steve O. Michael, Rector and CEO of Danubius International University, visited several schools and educational institutes in China.  The purpose of the visit includes reengagement with the old partners, cultivation of new ones, promotion of joint educational initiatives and exploring ways to contribute toward the " The Belt and Road Initiative.”  Xian International University, a partner of several decades, renewed its commitment to the Association for the Global Advancement of Universities and Colleges (AGAUC) of which Dr. Michael is the President and the plan for the 2025 Annual conference to be held on its campus in Xian. 

Zheng Shi, Dean of the China-Shanghai Cooperation Organization School of Economics and Trade said he hopes Rector Dr. Steve O.  Michael’s visit is an opportunity to carry out cooperation between Romania, U.S., and China around language training, short-term study, bilateral business cooperation, etc.

Dr. Steve O. Michael congratulated the leadership and the Director, Mr. Jason Zheng, for the establishment of SCO.  “The vision of SCO is important in our current polarized world.  Whatever can bring us together across nations, across cultures, across religions, to trade together, to work together, to study together and to find common solutions to our seemingly intractable challenges is good for China, for Romania, for the U.S., for Russia and for the whole humanity,” Dr. Michael said.  At the SCO Pearl International Expo Center, Dr. Michael met with the contingent from Khuzestan, and visited the Egyptian and UAE sites. 

In Qingdao, Dr. Michael and his hosts, Mrs. Caroline Zhou and Mr. Henry Leng, visited Qingdao Engineering Vocational College, Qingdao Institute of Technology, Jiaozhou No. 1 Middle School in Shandong Province, Jiaozhou Experimental Middle School and other places of interest.  He noted that institutions in China are allowed to have subsidiary businesses.  One institution he visited has a bakery, supplying bread to students and its immediate community, and the other has a winery.  “This type of business ventures brings reality to entrepreneurial institutions,” Dr. Michael noted. 

On May 7, Dr. Steve O. Michael met Sun Ke, Chief Superintendent of Jiaozhou Education and Sports Bureau, Zhou Zhaoxia, Chairman of Jiaozhou Education International Exchange Association, and Assistant Chairman of Jiaozhou Education International Exchange Association. He looks forward to further strengthening cooperation and exchanges in the future, promoting common development of both parties, and contributing to the educational and cultural exchanges between the youths of the two countries.


LeoMUN 2024

Apr 29 - May 1, 2024, Danubius International University was the host of LeoMUN 2024 - Leo Model United Nations Conference.

More than 100 High School Students from Galaţi, Bacău, Buzău, Tecuci, Iaşi participated in the Opening Ceremony of LeoMUN 2024 at DIU.

At the opening ceremony, Dr. Steve O Michael, the Rector of Danubius International University, greeted the high school students, stressing the event’s role in nurturing academic and cultural understanding. He encouraged the participants to embrace diplomacy and collaboration as they embarked on the conference, setting a tone of inspiration for the days ahead.

Model United Nations (MUN) is the official name given to the academic simulations of United Nations conferences. This activity aims to bring together young people from different parts of the world, with diverse profiles and aspirations, in order to develop oratory, public speaking and leadership skills through debates in English. The purpose is to provide a forum for discussion regarding international relations through an academically dynamic simulation of the United Nations.

Delegates gain insight into the inner workings of the United Nations by taking on the roles of world leaders and international decision-makers, all while navigating the intricacies of international negotiation.


Law students and professors were present at the Conference "ZEB Standards: revision of EPBD and new perspectives on energy efficiency in the buildings sector" - 6th edition

The "ZEB Standards: EPBD review and new perspectives on energy efficiency in the buildings sector" Conference - 6th edition, organized by the Commission for the Environment and Ecological Balance, in collaboration with the Commission for Industries and Services, the Commission for Foreign Policy and the Sustainable Development Subcommittee of the Chamber of Deputies, coordinated by Mrs. Oana-Marciana Özmen, Secretary of the Commission for Industries and Services, on April 22, had as special guests the first-year students of the Faculty of Law, together with Dr. Andy Pusca,  President of the Administrative Board of the Danubius University and Dr. Varvara Coman.

The event took place in the form of a debate on the topic of energy efficiency from the perspective of the latest regulations in the field at national and European level, such as:

1. Revision of the Energy Efficiency in Buildings Directive (EPBD)

2. The legislative proposal for the amendment and completion of Law no. 372/2005 regarding the energy performance of buildings currently under debate in the Romanian Parliament.
